Dave Georgeson of Gaia Online presents their upcoming flash based MMO
Dave Georgeson has been making games now for 20 years.
He has concentrated on mostly high-end, hard-core multiplayer games such as “PlanetSide” and”Tribes
2″.He is now at Gaia Online making a flash-based MMO
for a huge teen community site (Gaia Online).
Why? In his own words:
1) Creative freedom in design.
2) I strongly believe in the success potential of the marriage between
social sites and MMOs.
3) There are already 6 milllion active customers using Gaia Online on
a regular basis…and they will all *at least* look at the game in the
first week or so after launch, which most of you realize is a gigantic
opportunity for critical mass in the game.
4) A chance to do something completely wacky and different, while
still providing deep gameplay, for an audience that is 55% female, 45%
male.
Working with Flash and Java to make a game like this has been
challenging and it’s resulted in a very different sort of MMO, not
just because of graphics, but because of technology and direction of
design.

The game’s original info website is at http://mmo.gaiaonline.com/
P.S. The name of the game has finally been announced. It’s “zOMG!” (yes…small “z” and yes…”!” at the end.) The official website is now “zomg.com”

Dave:
I’m the founder of an exergame technology platform called Fitclub (see Pantometrics.com website). I’m very interested in opening the platform to the kinds of virtual reality, MMO, and social networking games being developed by the game community.
Could we chat?
