Special Guest Speaker Noah Falstein Monday May 18

Category: meetingsAnn Burkett @ 4:11 pm

Great news!

Noah Falstein is scheduled to come and speak at the Silicon Valley IGDA Game Project Connection event!  Noah Falstein is among the premier game designers in the world.  He is also an industry veteran from the arcade industry and Lucas Arts as well as Dreamworks Interactive. If you feel like times are tough now, talk to him about the collapse of the arcade industry and perhaps your perspective will be shifted. This is a lifetime innovator, his recent work includes implementing groundbreaking techniques. What others dream about, Noah does. If you are into game design at all, or serious games,  this one is for you.  So come already!

Noah will among other things talk about his recent work on serious games on the the Cisco Mind Share game and a glimpse of a new Mata Hari game in the works.  There will also be a question and answer session at the end for Noah, after which we will have time for people to walk around and be inspired to connect, gasp, face to face and not electronically, on Game Project Connection Night described below. Monday May 18th Game Project Connection Night

Category: connection nightAnn Burkett @ 4:44 pm

What: Game Project Connection Night.  This is an event where people who would like to find others to join projects as either employees, contract, sweat equity or unpaid/hobby/pre-contract can connect.  We will have tables set up.   People will be able to casually walk around and chat with each other about game projects in a low pressure environment.   If you have a project current or future that you are looking for more people for or if you are looking to join a game project now or in the future, this event is for you.

When: Monday May 18th at approximately 7pm

Where: Dragon’s Den auditorium at Cogswell

Why: Because at the SV IGDA last meeting this idea was voted by you as most wanted event in the immediate future.

Qualifications:  This event if free and open to the general public.  RSVP for table space is optional

RSVP:  Please RSVP if you think you would either like to talk to people about joining your project or invite them to brainstorm about your idea or simply attend looking for a project.  We would like to get an idea of the tables needed so please send me a quick email especially if you are interested in presenting and I will try to reserve a space for you, although we would also like to know if you are planning on attending as a “looking for interesting project” person too.
